2018 Jewel-Osco Monopoly Winnings Round-up

Acknowledgements

Special thanks to all the individuals who generously donated their tickets to me. There were several customers who gave me your tickets while at the check out. I never got your names, but thanks.

I don’t think it’s any secret that Monopoly is one of my favorite games. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing the Monopoly Board Game The Classic Edition with friends or family.

If I’m playing the once hard to find Millionaire’s version, or the Monopoly Deal Card Game version.

I love Monopoly and the play of the game.

So when companies start using Monopoly to bring in customers, I’m immediately sold.

Our local grocery store Jewel-Osco started a Monopoly promotion a number of years ago. If someone out there knows when this started please comment and share below, because I really don’t remember. Here is my 2017 winnings roundup.

Since I stared playing I’ve never keep track of what I’ve won, nor did I pay particularly close attention to all the pieces of the game.

This is my second year reporting my winnings. Now that I have the blog, I’ve felt compelled to share this with my readers.

Here is a summary of my 2018 Jewel-Osco Monopoly Play

( 1,486  ) Total number or tickets I played. This is just an estimate.

( 448 ) Fandango tokens, as shown in the app.

( 205 ) Universal tokens, as shown in the app.

( $5.00 ) Game Board prize, grocery gift card.

($15.00) Game Board prize, grocery gift card.

( 559) cents of coupons, added up by hand.

( 126 ) Total amount of instant wins = $151.16 see below.

Instant wins

There were a total of 26 different instant wins. The ones I received are listed here. I decided to hold all the tickets until the end of the game so I could get that picture you see at the top of the article. But just in case you want more pictures here you go.

Lesson Learned

When the tickets get wet they get ruined. This years’ game started off with me getting a handful of tickets wet while they were in my lunch bag. Once they get wet and stick together, it’s almost impossible to take them apart with-out destroying them.

There were many people who generously donated their tickets to me. I have no idea how I would track this, since each board game piece could come from multiple tickets. If you are playing you know what I mean. So I never keep track how many tickets each person gave me.

If you think I should track this next year please comment below.

I’m also not going to lie to you, I did notice one un-opened ticket in the trash can, and Yes, I did pick it out.

Here is an image of my receipt. Yeah! Doesn’t quit add up. See they substituted the tea, and I also miss counted the tomato sauce so they needed to remove these and so on.

The end result is a ticket tape about 7 or 8 feet long. WOW!

Final Thoughts

The app was a great time saver, especially when you have a lot of codes to enter, this made it manageable dealing with so many tickets.

Last year you were able to redeem the Fandango tokens for gift cards. This year they did not offer that option. I’m a little sad, as I don’t use Fandango. So the Fandango tokens were a waste for me.

The universal tokens were also worthless, as I had no need for these either.

I also find the coupons limited, the restrictions limit you to one coupon per order per customer. You are not allowed to combine coupons. Which is what I would have preferred. I’m not going to buy stuff I don’t need just to use a coupon.

Another example is the ShutterFly coupons. Yes, the coupons are for free items, but then you pay shipping charges.

A better option would be to offer the free items, but then also have a way to earn shipping gift cards so the item is totally free.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to next year. I’m hoping to get more people to donate their tickets. If you are interested in donating. I’d love to hear from you.

I have a lot of cents off coupons I’ll never use. If you are interested in them, please comment or contact me and I’ll send them to you.

They expire soon so contact me quickly.
