What I’m Reading – Tennessee Post Office Murals – Howard Hull

Tennessee Post Office Murals Bookcover

I WAS FIRST introduced to Howard Hull when I found his book .

If you know me well, you may also be aware of my obsession with post offices and the art inside of theses depression era buildings.

While I was touring and researching the buildings in Tennessee I discovered Mr.Hull’s book Tennessee Post Office Murals.

I’ll be honest when I first found it, I thought to myself “wow! If the author is still alive he must be old.”

So you can imagine my surprise and delight when I received a phone call from him some time last year.

I’m kicking my self because I don’t remember exactly when this was.

But the story gets better, both Mr. Hull and his wife are doing fine and still reside in Tennessee.

We’ve been in communication ever since this initial meeting.

Mr. Hull’s book has been a huge influence in my post office work.

I initially wanted him to autograph my copy, but Mr. Hull was gracious enough to send me an entirely new book signed by him.

In addition I also discovered Mr. Hull has been writing other books.

Not only did he send me an autograph copy of Tennessee Post Offices but he also sent me two other books he has written.

Still writing in your eighties? That’s incredible! And I’m still in amazement of your work.

This is another one of those books that has sentimental value for me. I don’t think I could ever part with it.

Having been able to speak to the author and communicate every now and then has been priceless.

Thank you for writing this book and your generosity and friendship.
