Menards Crazy Days Sale – March 31, 2017 – April 2, 2017 Free Stuff Review

Menards Crazy Days SaleMenards Crazy Days Sale Free Stuff

The sale is from March 31, 2017 to April 2, 2017

I write about free stuff a lot. I think most everyone likes a good deal so I thought I’d write a quick article about the Menards Crazy Days Sale.

This is the first time I took the time to really analyze the sales flyer. I thought it would make a great article for the frugal folks out there.

Free Items (with rebate)

For this sale I’m only interested in the free items. NOT the buy one get one free items as advertised.

I spotted a total of 15 items in the flyer that are free with a rebate. Here is what I found.

  1. $3.98 Deck Wash
  2. $5.99 Cinch Stake
  3. $5.99 Blow Gun Kit
  4. $2.99 Ultra Light Kneepads
  5. $9.99 Brush Set
  6. $4.00 Elastomeric Blacktop Crack Filler
  7. $9.88 Furniture Guard
  8. $3.78 Redi Shade
  9. $4.98 Pint Glass
  10. $2.00 Pop-out Ice Cube Tray
  11. $2.19 Salt & Pepper Shakers
  12. $4.99 Microfiber Scrubber Cloths
  13. $1.73 Gender Pickled Onions
  14. $2.44 Matches
  15. $3.99 Angle Broom

$69.02 Total

For this sale I only purchased 8 items.  The rest of the stuff I really don’t need. So I didn’t see any point in getting them. There is the minimalist in me, only getting what I need to will use soon.

In fact a few of the items are just for the kid to play with anyway. Take for example the broom. See we already have a broom, but we keep loosing toys under the couch and furniture so having an extra one around is great so the kid can clean up his toys.

Here are the items I picked up.

  1. $5.99 Blow Gun Kit
  2. $9.99 Brush Set (2)
  3. $4.98 Pint Glass
  4. $2.00 Pop-out Ice Cube Tray
  5. $4.99 Microfiber Scrubber Cloths
  6. $2.19 Salt & Pepper Shakers
  7. $2.44 Matches
  8. $3.99 Angle Broom

$46.56 Total of what I actually bought

All of the items are free after the mail in rebate. I know a lot of people don’t necessarily like getting their money back in the form of a rebate. I include myself in this group.

But here is my rational for now.

I have several home improvement projects coming up where I’ll need buy more stuff. As a result, I’ll end up using the rebates so I’m ok with them for now.

Personal Finance

Getting money back in the form of a rebate is not necessarily my favorite way to manage my finances. Its money that I have to pull out of my pocket and as you know I don’t like doing this. I’d rather get the free item right away.

However, I’m will to work with the rebates for several reasons. First, as I mentioned I do have more home improvement projects coming up. One of these happens to be remodeling my home office. This remodel will include painting the ceiling and walls.

One of the free items with a rebate is for paint brushes which I’ll need for this project. So having to wait for a rebate is fine with me.

Another reason I dislike the rebate form of free stuff is having to search for and fill out all those rebate forms. Its not really time well spent, but for now I’ll deal with it. In addition since you are required to fill out the rebate forms you also need to mail it it. So for all this free stuff, I’ll actually end up spending the $.45 for a stamp to mail in the forms.

Hum!!, should I subtract that from the total I listed above? That’s sort of misleading. Oh well you get the picture. I wonder if Menards will ever make this process electronic? That would be ideal.

What are your thoughts on the Menards Crazy Days Sale? Do you like rebates?

Funny thing is I ran into another shopper who mentioned his uncle has a garage full of all the items he has gotten from these sales. I’d like to meet him. Are you agreeing this? That would be a great article or interview.
