Hello Everyone,

Dave Gates reporting in for my ninth Jewel-Osco Saturday Morning Sampler Savings Report of 2018. I’ve noticed a slowdown in the Saturday Morning Sample freebies.

I though it would be interesting to report how much I’ve saved by redeeming the coupons for free items at our local grocery store.

We live in the Chicago-Land area and one of the major stores is Jewel-Osco. Last year I signed up for MyMixx rewards and downloaded their smart phone app.

Many blogs publish income reports on how much their blogs and businesses earn. I’ve decided to take this concept and turn it around a bit.

Instead of reporting on how much my blog is making, I plan to report how much I’m saving by redeeming coupons for free items. It’s kinda fun to track how this adds up.

Overview

Any blogger will tell you there is a lot of work behind creating the articles and maintaining a blog. But it is actually fun and interesting. There are many ups and downs along the way.

Our traffic is slowing decreasing, and I’ll need to investigate why. I know I’ve been super busy juggling several projects and find it hard to stay focused on analyzing exactly why.

Our current email newsletter service is with Mailchimp.

My plan is to track the growth of this list. I joined last year, we have a great base to start with. Everything I read suggest offering something of value for free. Do you have any suggestions?

Stuck at 19 subscribers, I’ll need to investigate how to grow this list. I’m open to any ideas you guys have.

BLOG UPDATES

Slow and declining traffic in September. I’ve been super busy building the tree house, so my focus has been on that and not paying a tremendous amount of time here on davegates.net.

I counted four items for the month of September 2018 for a total of $8.96 worth of stuff. Not bad. Thanks Jewel.

I’m still loving the themes from Studiopress. I highly recommend them. I’m currently using the Lifestyle Pro Theme for davegates.net.

Time to get this tree house up. Yeah!!! Most of the pieces are completed, and now the back yard is prepped and the floor fame has been moved into place. For more on that project head over the first article Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Tree House Project Part One The idea The Plan.

It has been a fun project, but I’m anxious to get it up now.

I want to mention I’ve noticed Jewel-Osco offering more #wordoftheday items. Maybe they are focusing more on this sort of promotion than on the Saturday Morning Samplers.

Already in October, there are two back to back items. Just thought I’d mention that.

MOVING FORWARD

The plan is to continue visiting my local Jewel-Osco on Saturday morning’s for their Free items. I’m a sucker for free stuff.

FYI, I’ve be working on the Tree-House Project. We need to get this thing done now, so I’ll be focusing on that.
