Hi, I’m Dave Gates the author of davegates.net.
I’d like to personally welcome you to my corner of the world. I’m delighted you are here.

This blog is for entertainment purposes. I created it for your enjoyment.
It contains a mix of lifestyle articles from how to build a blog, to DIY home improvement projects, personal finance and everyday rambles from Dave Gates.
Here is where I’m coming from. When I tell someone I blog, the next question is often times; What do you blog about? or How do you do that? or What theme are you using and so on.
My current experiment discusses how much I’m saving using the Jewel-Osco MyMixx rewards. You can view my inaugural Saturday Morning Sampler Report here.
This is a neat little experiment that serves a few purposes. The first is that it gives you the ability to watch and learn how I’m building this blog. Hopefully, this is of some value to you.
If you are the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) type, this blog also contains articles about home improvements projects. The articles are filled with various tips and suggestions for your own project.
For example, my wife and I built a storage bed a few years ago. This is a great place to start if you are looking to make your own.
I started davegates.net over 14 years ago. The web was a much different place back then. I remember how proud I was for teaching myself Microsoft FrontPage. Does anyone remember that program?
Today, I use davegates.net to journal what I’ve learned and to remind myself how I did things. My memory sucks and writing about what I’ve done is a great way to refresh my memory.
For now, all the articles posted are actual projects I’ve done or or worked with. You can learn a lot from others who have, “been there, and done that.”
My professional career started as a computer technician. I’ve also had my share of working customer service in a retail environment.
I’m your average guy who spends a lot of time on his computer. At the moment I divide this time between being a dad, husband, brother, friend, blogger, and entrepreneur.
I continue to work in the information technology field by day, and I blog and write at night and on the weekends. I always look forward to meeting and networking with others.
And lastly sign up for our newsletter. I look forward to hearing from you.
